It’s so refreshing to hear that celebrities have spoken out against sexual harassment and are bringing attention to this massive problem that only seems to have escalated in recent years.
While no woman or man should be subjected to this disgusting breach of privacy, general respect and decency, Blake Lively is opening up to everyone about her personal experience with it.
Lively has been extremely open in speaking out against Harvey Weinstein and supporting all women that have been victims of sexual harassment and all unsolicited advances. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, she also detailed a specific incident regarding herself and an unnamed makeup artist.
She described the experience saying:
“He was saying things inappropriately, insisting on putting my lipstick on with his finger. I was sleeping one night on location and I woke up and he was filming me. I was clothed, but it was a very voyeuristic, terrifying thing to do.”
Lively immediately reported the incidents to both of her producers, but they only spoke to her regarding an irrelevant and comparatively insignificant issue.
“Finally, after three months of complaining, they called me into my trailer and said, ‘We need to talk to you.’ I thought, ‘Well finally, they’re going to do something about this man who I had to have touching me all day.’ And they said, ‘Your dog left a poop behind the toilet in your dressing room and our janitor had to pick it up. And this is very serious and we can’t have this happen again’.”
This blatant disregard for her safety and well-being caused Lively to take the issue up with her lawyers, finally resulting in the dismissal of the makeup artist. The worst part, however, was when Lively ended by saying, “Our unit production manager wrote him a letter of recommendation because nobody wanted there to be bad blood.”
