In what they considered to be a thoughtful gesture, the Brooklyn’s Lineup Brewing created a special beer inspired by the star herself and named after her. It turns out the real Beyoncé wasn’t exactly honored by “Biëryoncé,” and sent a letter to the owner requesting an immediate halt on all production of the beer.
“As a Hispanic, female-run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I’d pay homage,” owner Katarina Martinez said. “We’re disappointed she didn’t take it as a compliment, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted!”
The design of the beer can itself was inspired by Beyoncé’s self-titled 2013 album, but that still didn’t seem to impress the world-famous singer. However, Lineup Brewing seems to have a history of creating beers that honor certain stars. While Biëryoncé will soon be unavailable, you can opt for a beer dedicated to Carly Simon (“I Bet You Think This Beer Is About You”), Notorious B.I.G. (“Notorious”), or David Bowie and Freddie Mercury (“Under Pressure”).
For an extremely limited amount of time, the one-time batch of Biëryoncé will still be available in New York, so try and snag one if you can. It could be worth a pretty penny down the road.
